You probably have seen Stop : c0000218 { Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\ System32 \ Config \ SOFTWARE (or System). The Deep Drill, another tool for Registry repairing, it exports the entire Registry to a text file. It then reads each line, character by character looking for any invalid characters. It is also looks for other characters like a period, which may indicate that this line contains a file name, a URL, or an email address. If a colon is found, the Drill looks for a path in the line or a URL. The Drill looks for a *, which could be a VXD file or a Key referring to the Bios and Root Keys in the Registry, or a wildcard file extension, and so on and so forth with each character it reads. It then looks for the file, path, Registry Key, and any pointers to other Registry Keys , etc. to see if it exists. If a line contains a period and a colon and { , it will search for Class, TypeLib, Filter, Interface Keys, and other Keys. It will also search for Catroot, files, paths, URL's, version numbers, and time. It then searches it's database for known entries and then goes through a process of determining whether or not the entry is valid and does this line point to another Key. When an error is displayed the Drill stops and tells you why it contains a error. Click on Help and the file opens to that type of error to explain to you what may be the problem with the key, giving you an example in most cases.
In the Search and Replace tool, you can quickly search the Registry for any phrase, word, or file name - binary and ASCII. You can view the Key, delete it, edit it, save the report, remove selected items from the list or replace the search term in the entries found with a new word or phrase. This tools allows you to completely uninstall programs that leave remnants in the Registry.
